Using the Beam Machine Tax Guide Index
Master index for the Beam Machine tax and compliance guide set, covering VAT, provisional tax, tax prep worksheets, deadline tracking, and advanced tax review screens.
Using the Beam Machine Tax Guide Index
This page shows you which Beam Machine tax guide to open, what each screen currently does, and where you still need SARS or professional review outside the app.
Product: Beam Machine
Module: Tax Guides
Role: Accountant, Tax Preparer, Payroll Lead, Finance Manager, Reviewer
Difficulty: Beginner
Time: 5 minutes
Last Updated: 2026-03-10
Version: Current Beam Machine app build in this repo
Before You Start
- You need access to Tax in Beam Machine.
- You should know whether you are working on VAT, provisional tax, company tax, employer taxes, or review support.
- Keep in mind that some BM tax pages are live working screens and some are review dashboards only.
What is this guide set?
This is the Beam Machine tax manual shelf. It explains the live BM tax routes in plain English, then tells you where Beam Machine stops and where SARS filing, supporting documents, or tax sign-off still happen outside the app.
In Beam Machine today, the tax area covers:
- VAT periods and VAT201 generation
- provisional tax tracking
- an ITR14 / EMP201 preparation worksheet
- a tax calendar
- and several advanced review workspaces for risk, incentives, draft packs, defence, and provisions
When do you use this?
Use this page when you know the tax job in front of you, but you do not yet know which Beam Machine guide fits that job.
If you skip this index, you can easily mistake a review dashboard for a filing workflow. That is how teams promise automation they do not actually have yet.
Where do you find these guides?
Primary path: Open the relevant page below.
Product path: Finance -> Tax
Reference: Use ../modules/05-working-in-tax.md for the wider module overview.

Deeper South African tax-reference pages
These pages are not fake product features. They exist to help users interpret the live BM tax screens safely:

Common Questions & Issues
"Does every tax page submit directly to SARS?"
Why this happens: Tax screens often look official, so users assume the app is doing the filing itself.
Fix: Do not assume that. Read the specific guide first. Some BM screens prepare or track data only.
"Why are some pages so cautious if the route is live?"
Why this happens: A visible route only proves the screen exists. It does not prove full legislative coverage, document packs, or external filing integration.
Fix: Use the route, but keep the guide's scope notes. They are there to stop false confidence.

SA Compliance Reference
- South African tax compliance still depends on the applicable SARS process, filing channel, and support pack for the tax type involved.
- Use Beam Machine for current in-app workflow guidance, but confirm filing obligations against current SARS rules and your firm's review process.
